Happy Histamine Juice

To help your allergies, hay fever and digestive woes I love to use food as a form of medicine. This juice has been created with those suffering from histamine issues in mind.

Ingredients

Makes juice for 1 person.

  • 1/2 apple (any variety) with skin. Apples have a wide range of flavonoids and polyphenols, which is shown to inhibit the release of histamines from mast cells (1)

  • 2-3 cm knob turmeric. Turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that it inhibited mast cell activation (2)

  • 2-3 cm knob ginger. Ginger inhibits allergic reactions by acting as a histamine receptor 2 inhibitor and mast cell stabiliser (3)

  • 1 small cucumber (approximately 15 cm in length), low histamine (4)

  • 2-3 stalks of celery (can also juice the leaves), low histamine (4)

Method

  1. Cut up all the ingredients into small pieces.

  2. Feed all of these into your juicer.

  3. Pour liquid into your favourite class and enjoy.

** Tip: make fresh to maximise nutritional content and drink at room temperature to assist digestion.
